Audio Mastering
Making your music pristine and release-ready
I offer audio mastering for ‘final mix’ stereo files, and also ‘stem mastering’ for special projects that need a bit of extra attention to detail – mastering from multiple (usually between 4 and 6) stems.
What is mastering?
Audio mastering is the art of refining and preparing your music for distribution. It's the final 10-15% that a final mix needs in order for it to sound the best it possibly can, to give it that ‘3D’ feel. It involves applying processing to your final mix to enhance its sonic characteristics, clarity, depth, and ensuring consistency in sound quality throughout an entire album, EP or collection of songs. It also brings it up to optimum loudness so that it reproduces well across all output formats, be that streaming, CD, vinyl, cassette etc. (so that it sounds loud and full even in the car!)
How do I work?
I work with the band or artist to get an idea of their vision of the sound that’s ‘in their head’ for their track, using their references as a guiding compass to achieve what they have in mind. I share masters for feedback to make sure that I've understood exactly what the client needs and make adjustments as necessary to ensure satisfaction with the end product.

“Greg was amazing to work with on my album.
Definitely a 10/10, recommended!“
It wasn’t the easiest of music to master and I had a definite idea of how I wanted it to sound. He worked patiently with me through a few issues – there are parts of the album that I wanted exceptionally loud – but Greg managed to reign it in and present a really nice, cohesive sounding album."
