I’m also a self-taught musician, producer and songwriter. I play by ear, and so have a great ear for music  - that’s the ‘art’ side of music.

But more than that, I train my ears daily to recognise frequencies, volumes, compression and more – as mastering is the ‘science’ side of music. I’ve completed the highly acclaimed Mastering.com programme and am now in the top 0.4% of ears on Soundgym.co

I work from a home studio that’s had sound treatment to get it within +-6dB of flat frequency response. This means that I can hear an accurate sound across the frequency spectrum, so that I can make the right decisions about what needs to be adjusted when mixing and mastering (without being fooled by low frequency build ups for example).
